Xiaoran (Jeffrey) Zheng received his Master of Engineering degree in Materials Science and Engineering from UNSW Sydney in 2021. His master’s research focused on the fabrication of metal oxide nanostructures and heterojunctions for electrocatalysis and pseudocapacitor applications, under the supervision of A/Prof Pramod Koshy. He subsequently pursued his PhD within the same research group, specialising in the design of advanced disordered and/or high-entropy metal oxide cathode materials for next-generation energy storage systems, including sodium-ion and zinc–air batteries, in close collaboration with Dr Sajjad S. Mofarah, Prof Neeraj Sharma, and Prof Charles C. Sorrell.
He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Chemistry at UNSW, working with Prof Richard Tilley, Director of the Electron Microscopy Unit. His present research focuses on the design and engineering of metal nanocrystal-decorated carbon materials for electrocatalytic applications, with an emphasis on advanced electron microscopy characterisation techniques. His research interests include the synthesis, engineering, and electron-based microscopy/spectroscopy analysis of novel materials for electrochemical energy technologies.
