Aim
Program 1 is to drive a paradigm shift in carbon materials science by creating novel carbon catalysts with desired catalytic properties through precisely controlled catalytically active centres.
Approach
The precision synthesis will be integrated with data-driven design, theory, and experiments (in-situ/ex-situ operando characterization).
Benefits
Novel carbon materials will be created, including 3D carbon architectures doped with metal/non-metal atoms and/or defects, either by themselves as catalysts or as catalyst supporters. Especially, novel synthetic approaches will be developed to create carbon catalysts from carbon wastes (e.g., CO2, biomass).
