A/Professor Judy Hart

Associate Professor Judy Hart is a computational materials scientist at UNSW School of Materials Science and Engineering, whose research focuses on understanding and designing catalysts and other functional materials for energy and environmental technologies. Using quantum chemical modelling methods, particularly density functional theory, she investigates the atomic-scale mechanisms that govern catalytic activity, selectivity, and stability, providing fundamental insight into the behaviour and performance of catalytic materials. Her work bridges computation and experiment, combining modelling with close collaboration across synthesis and characterisation to guide the optimisation and understanding of new materials. Following a PhD in Materials Engineering at Monash University, she undertook postdoctoral research at the University of Bath and held a Ramsay Memorial Fellowship in the Centre for Computational Chemistry at the University of Bristol before joining UNSW Sydney in 2013.
