Manisha Joshi is a PhD student in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at UNSW Sydney, working under the supervision of A/Prof Rakesh Joshi. She completed her master’s degree at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, India, before joining UNSW to pursue doctoral research in nanomaterials. Her work centres on graphene oxide (GO) and other advanced two-dimensional materials, investigating how their unique layered structure and tunable surface chemistry govern the adsorption and transport of gas and vapor molecules. Alongside this, she uses density functional theory (DFT) to understand gas interactions with GO and its derivatives, further supporting her experimental findings. A central goal of her research is to bridge this fundamental understanding with real-world applications by designing next-generation membrane technologies for gas adsorption and separation.
