Dr Yihao Shan obtained his PhD degree from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in the Particles and Catalysis Research Group (PartCat). He is currently a postdoctoral research associate in the same group.

His doctoral research primarily focused on water electrolysis, including electrocatalyst development, stack scale-up and commercialization, and the integration of photovoltaic electrolysis systems for solar-driven hydrogen production. His current research centres on the development of nanoscale electrocatalysts and their applications across multiple electrochemical reactions, including CO₂ reduction, C-N coupling, and broader industrially relevant electrocatalytic processes.
