Prof Dai – Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science Fellowship 2023

Congratulations to CSI Director Prof Liming Dai who has been elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science Fellowship 2023.

Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Carbon Science and Innovation Laureate Professor Liming Dai is a chemist and materials scientist, recognised a pioneer and leading authority in carbon nanomaterials and carbon electrocatalysis. His ground-breaking work on the birth of metal-free carbon electrocatalysts has been well documented and acclaimed. He is widely recognised as a global leader in the research and development of metal-free carbon electrocatalysts for renewable energy applications. Dai’s pioneering work has ranged from polymer and carbon nanomaterials design and synthesis, through understanding physical concepts, to device applications. His research has effectively bridged the gap between nanoscale science and applied research on polymers/carbon nanomaterials and their related devices in micro-/macro-world.

On his recent election to the Australian Academy of Science, Prof Dai said, “While I am honoured by my recent election as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences, I think it is also a recognition of the new research field of carbon electrocatalysis pioneered by our Centre members to be further explored in our Centre. Furthermore, this recognition provides opportunities for our Centre to collaborate with more respected fellow scientists in Australia and leading research institutions globally. This will lead a generational transformation in carbon science and innovation, a sustainable economy, and a clean environment for Australia and the world.”

As a Centre Director, Laureate Professor Liming Dai will strategically direct the vision and plan for the Centre and manage the research programs and operations of CSI.
